The Academies Role

The role that South Nottinghamshire Academy will contribute towards extended services cannot be underestimated.

South Nottinghamshire Academy will have an increased importance and responsibility with contributing to extended services.

As a academy in the community, South Nottinghamshire Academy has the most students (most parents of students), most links with external agencies, most support systems, most community links and the most comprehensive facilities.

South Nottinghamshire Academy will have a huge influence on the quality/quantity of extended services that are offered in the family.

South Nottinghamshire Academy really is the ‘hub’ of the community and will develop these services in the future. As South Nottinghamshire Academy spreads its wings in the family and plays a vital role in the partnership, there will be many positive benefits for the South Nottinghamshire Academy Partnership, the students, the parents and the community.

Every child matters, as does every stakeholder!

What the academy is doing

  • Raising the profile of extended services through display boards around the academy and around feeder schools
  • 'Information base' for parents at parents evenings/options evenings
  • 'Signposting' parents/students/community members to possible activities or support systems that may prove to be of benefit
  • Working alongside Children's Information Service/Parents information service to raise awareness of the range of services in the community
  • Raising profile of the school/services through publicity material such as the Cotgrave Connections, Local News, Nottingham Evening Post and South Nottinghamshire Academy Focus
  • Current audit of South Nottinghamshire Academy lunchtime/extra curriculum – channel and signpost students to certain areas of support & identify possible gaps in the market which can be filled
  • Communication links with the community developed, anybody can find out about extended services through the email address
