Family of Schools

We firmly believe that we can better identify and meet the learning and education needs of young people if we work in close partnership with the local authority and other schools and providers in our local communities. Through this extended network we can meet the Every Child Matters outcomes and more effectively plan and deliver a core range of integrated services including:

  • A varied range of activities such as study support, sport and music clubs.
  • Childcare provision.
  • Parenting and family support,
  • Swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services
  • Community access to facilities including adult and family learning, ICT and sports.

At South Nottinghamshire Academy and the other family schools the 'working day' extends far beyond the traditional school day. There are a range of student, adult and community activities taking place from 7.30 a.m. - 10.00 p.m. each and every day throughout the entire year.

Which schools are involved?

The 'Family' includes every school in the Cotgrave, Radcliffe-on-Trent and Shelford communities:

What are the benefits of Family of Schools?

There is evidence that extended services can help to:

  • Improve pupil attainment, self confidence, motivation and attendance.
  • Reduce exclusion rates.
  • Better enable teachers to focus on teaching and learning.
  • Enhance children’s and families access to services

Why not visit our Extended Services pages to see what is on offer in terms of community activities, there's something for everyone.
