National Apprenticeship Week

We are Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week at South Nottinghamshire Academy.

A whole host of information will be shared over the next week via workshops, talks and trips.

Peter Rowlett, a Maths Professor and communicator at Sheffield Hallam University, worked with years 10, 11 and 12 students to showcase where Maths can take you, sharing his expertise and discussing what a Maths degree looks like.

Students from all years learnt about routes into the RAF.

We are Compare & Contrasting!
Sheffield Hallam joined us for the day. Predominantly for the delivery of sixth form workshop on degree apprenticeships. Students compared traditional university routes to degree apprenticeships. The university also went into year 7 and 8 classes to talk about the benefits and social side of HE, as well as highlighting the degree apprenticeship route.

A group of our Year 9 boys attended the Secret Science careers focused event at Wollaton Hall, where they heard from inspirational scientists and took part in demos and activities, with a focus on nature, health, and modern inventions.

As part of NAW, a group of Year 10 students went to Capital One for a business insight and to take part in their Pathways programme, focusing on employability skills and financial literacy.

VIA Nottingham talked to the sixth form about their early careers and recruitment advice and guidance. A great insight to the 250 roles at this large employer.
