Transition & Feeder Schools

Primary to Secondary Transition

The transition from Primary to Secondary school is one of the most daunting prospects for parents. Have you made the right decision? Will your child successfully adapt to the new school? Will they make new friends?

We understand that it can be a very worrying time and try to make this transition as smooth and concern-free as possible. Continuity is one of the key ways in which the transition to secondary school can be made much easier. We work as a close-knit team with our family of schools, so children will already be familiar with many of the South Nottinghamshire Academy teachers and students who regularly visit primary schools and organise joint activities. Likewise, children in our feeder primary schools will also have been to South Nottinghamshire Academy on several occasions to get involved in a variety of events and activities.

We have a dedicated Transition Manager, Mr Peyton (Assistant Headteacher), who regularly liaises with our family of schools to plan and organise transition activities and meets with parents to discuss any concerns or answer any questions they may have.

  1. Download the Notice of Appeal form located at the bottom of this page.
  2. You should include any information and/or documentation that you wish to submit in support of your case, including proof of permanent residency for your child at your home address. You may submit additional information any time up to the hearing but, if you provide anything too close to the hearing date which the panel thinks may be significant, the panel may need to adjourn to allow all parties the opportunity to consider it.
