Entry Qualifications

We would normally expect students to have achieved 5 grade C's at GCSE including English and Mathematics to start an A Level Programme.Student at work

A or B grade at GCSE is strongly advised in your chosen A Level subjects. for those subjects you wish to study 'new' all you need do is show that you have achieved higher grades in some subjects at GCSE.

Vocational qualifications have specific entry requirements and you are advised to discuss this in person with the Head of Sixth Form. If you are already a student at the Academy your application should be supported by your Year 11 subject teachers, who will be able to comment on your commitment to achieve in your GCSE's. If you are an applicant from another school, you will be invited to the Open Evening and asked to attend an interview in order to confirm your place.

A typical sequence of events would be:

  1. Before applying it is important you gain as much information as you can about the subjects you wish to study.

You can do this by attending an Open Evening when staff and students will be available to discuss course options and specific requirements. Continued support for this will be available from the Head of Sixth Form.

  2. Once you have decided what subject of course, please complete theĀ application form.
  3. When you have completed the application form, either hand it in to the Academy reception of School Services. Once you have done this, you will be sent an acknowledgement letter outlining what will happen next, including when any interview will take place.
  4. There will be a range of familiarisation sessions for Year 11 students and an induction event for all applicants who are offered a place.
