Bullying

South Nottinghamshire Academy does not tolerate any form of harassment, bullying or victimisation towards any member of our community.

What can bullying look like?

Harassment includes but is not limited to the derogatory treatment of a person based on protected characteristics (whether actual or perceived), including age; disability; gender reassignment; race; religion or belief; sex; or sexual orientation.

Bullying is the exercise of power over another person through negative acts or behaviours that undermine that person.

Victimisation occurs when a person is treated less favourably because they have made or are planning to make an allegation of harassment, or have participated in an investigation.

Below are some examples of harassment and bullying. It should be noted that this is by no means an exhaustive list, but a few common scenarios. 

Physical: hitting, kicking, taking things

Verbal: name-calling, insulting, making offensive remarks, chanting

Indirect: spreading nasty rumours or stories, excluding from social groups, sending malicious emails or text messages

Reporting an issue

If you have been subject to - or have witnessed - harassment, bullying or victimisation, please let us know by talking to your tutor or house team.

Speaking to your house team enables you to access advice and support for yourself or someone else. All incidents are handled in confidence.
